Iranian President Hassan Rohani called on Asian and African leaders on Wednesday to fight terrorism, extremism and violence.
"Violence, aggression, terrorism and extremism easily contaminate the world and have shed the blood of the innocent," Rohani said in a speech during the 60th Asian-African Conference Commemoration at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta.
Rohani said that terrorists and extremists, especially in Iraq, Syria and several African countries, used the most barbaric methods to kill people who were a threat to their political agenda.
He said that terrorists got their equipment and financial and intelligence support from international and regional players. "The 'sponsors' set aside the fact that the instability [caused by the violence] will affect their own countries too."
Rohani suggested that Asian and African leaders revitalize the 10 Bandung Principles, which he said could contribute to global conflict resolution. (++++)
